Canterbury Boys High School has received a 2018 Secretary’s Award for Excellence for their in-residence partnership with Sydney Story Factory!

The Minister’s and Secretary’s Awards recognise schools and individuals across NSW for their outstanding achievements and service to public education.

The win for Outstanding School Initiative recognises the Sydney Story Factory’s residency with Canterbury Boys High School. In 2017, our year-long residency program involved weekly writing workshops for students in years 7 to 12. From scriptwriting and monologues to slam poetry and fictional memoirs, we are incredibly proud to have had the chance to partner with Canterbury Boys for this program. Watch a video about the partnership here.

Our in-school residency has continued this year and independent evaluations show it’s really making a difference. The evaluation found that 80% of students valued the program and that there were significant improvements in creativity and literacy levels.
