Three Week Program

So, as you may or may have not noticed, InstaPoetry is pretty big. These workshops introduce students to the genre, exploring the inventive ways the multimodal nature of Instagram is being used by young poets. Students will be led through a collection of engaging activities using different model texts, structures, and scaffolds, covering key poetic literacy modes and safe methods for student self expression.

Create literary texts that reflect an emerging sense of personal style and evaluate the effectiveness of these texts (ACELT1814)
Create literary texts with a sustained ‘voice’, selecting and adapting appropriate text structures, literary devices, language, auditory and visual structures and features for a specific purpose and intended audience (ACELT1815)

Join us between 11am-3pm on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th of December at Parramatta Female Factory Institutions Precinct (1 Fleet Street, North Parramatta) for a powerful exhibition titled Memory River.  Throughout this year, Story Factory and the custodians of the Female Factory Precinct have worked with Elders, Kaytetye, Anmatyerr and Eastern Arrernte cross-disciplinary artist Carmen Glynn-Braun, and young writers from local high schools to understand, express and reinterpret the stories of the Female Factory through creative writing and art.  As you wander through the grounds, you will discover recordings of stories by students as they responded to the pre- and post-colonial history of this contested site. Are you an experienced teacher looking for a new challenge? Do you love creative writing and ensuring all young people have opportunities to succeed?  We are currently recruiting for a Senior Program Manager.  The ideal candidate will be an exceptional, experienced workshop facilitator who can work independently to shape and improve our in- school programming.  They will have a passion for nurturing creativity and building skills in their peers, and in young people from diverse backgrounds. Candidates must be a qualified teacher with at least five years teaching experience, and experience managing people. They will be highly creative and adaptable, and love bringing out the best in their team.  The Senior Program Manager will be a key part of Story Factory’s senior management group, providing input into both day-to-day decision making and long-term strategy for the organisation. We are running a very exciting multilingual public writing project and we want YOU to be a part of it!  In a Flash invites people to write flash fiction (very short stories - less than 100 words) in response to writing by emerging and established Australian authors.  Everyone who submits a story goes into the draw to win one of three $100 gift cards and a selection of writing will be published on our website!  All the prompts have been translated into Arabic, Vietnamese and Mandarin, and you can write in any of these languages or in English.
