Stories
We publish thousands of stories each year, all written by our brilliant students. Here’s a selection of what they’ve been writing across our workshops.

A cricket bat is really important to me because it represents my passion. I love how the cricket bat feels in my hand and the sound of it when it hits a ball.

Slimy, sweet, sticky, Yummy like sugar. Honey is important and is good with weetbix. It reminds me of when I was six, and I was sick, and my pop gave me a teaspoon of honey.

My dog died in 2014, six years ago. It has been a long time, but I still have his collar.

My books are all different colours and sizes. They smell like happiness, they feel soft, and calming. I wouldn't have made it through this whole pandemic if I didn’t have my books.

I remember when I slipped and broke my arm. We were playing, and it was wet, I pushed the ball out of Jett’s arms and then I slipped.
The Lurk

It was dark and silent. Maybe too quiet. A flicker of light. I saw him, his spikes frighten me.

This historic piece of fluff was from a four year old’s teddy bear that she got when she was born. The bear was a dark brown colour and it had a pastel coloured ribbon. It got burnt in a bonfire at a skatepark. His name was Remmy, and she carried it everywhere.

This piece of hair is from when a three year old was cutting her own hair in her room.

Black and white as a magpie Looks like darkness, and paper Tastes of rice and caviar Reminds me of my favourite shade

Yummy, nice to eat in my tummy, probably feels bumpy. Got made a week ago, got eaten a week ago. If I vomited it up, I would eat it again!

Blue, calming as it falls outside Feels cool as it surrounds my body Looks like life as I gaze at it Tastes of salt, as I gurgle it accidentally When I dunk my head in the ocean Reminds me of home as I splash around at the beach
