with Thomas Reddall High
We're bringing together 80 students, from six high schools, a professional playwright, an expert storyteller, and acres of inspiration to create a one-of-a-kind play that comes straight out of Western Sydney. Guided and supported by a playwright from Belvoir Theatre, and a storyteller from Sydney Story Factory, they'll be brainstorming ideas for drama, characters, plot and action.
In Term 3 things get really interesting as all of those ideas come together in a single collaborative play script. Students at each school will keep working to flesh out and develop key parts of the whole, bringing characters to life and creating a uniquely original drama.
In Term 4 committed playwrights from all four schools will work together to polish and finesse the script, ironing out the kinks and preparing it to go from script to stage.
To round it all off we have to finish with a performance - obviously! Students from each school will be cast and they'll perform together in a rehearsed reading on stage at Belvoir Downstairs Theatre, in Surry Hills. Students who were there right from the start will see their ideas, their stories and their world come to life under lights in a professional venue. It promises to be an amazing show!
This is a closed school workshop series.
