Working with LGBTQIA+ Students
Up to 11 out of 100 people identify as being Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and other queer (LGBTQIA+). In this Professional Development, led by our current social work intern Christos Floratos, we will learn what it means to be LGBTQIA+ in the context of our students. In addition, we will learn skills in creating positive conversations when these issues of diversity are brought up and how to proudly call yourself an ally of the queer community. We will learn practical skills of supporting students who may identify as LGBTQIA+ so we can promote diversity with our students. You will get the chance to reflect on previous experience to better prepare for future experiences to ensure we get to hear the wonderful LGBTQIA+ voices and unlock those children’s fullest potential.
Free for volunteers, please RSVP to enrol.
