Our Year of Poetry program runs in parallel with the ultra-successful Year of the Novella. Teens from all over Western Sydney will be encouraged to explore poetry, in all its forms, working with volunteer tutors on original ideas from concept through drafting, revision and edits. By the end they’ll have produced their own collection of original poems. Throughout the year, students will have the guidance and experience of workshop leaders, as well as coaching from some very special guest poets who will draw on their own experience to inspire students to keep the verses flowing, the stanzas pumping, and the rhymes rolling.
At the end, our poets’ collections will be professionally published and available for purchase, with students performing a reading for family, friends and community at a proper and official launch, to celebrate their achievement.
This course is for high school students - if you would like to enrol, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Places are free but limited, and will be reserved for students most in need.
