All workshops are facilitated by our Story Factory Storytellers and provide a safe and supportive space where young people can develop ideas and write. Guided by  our expert staff, with support from their fellow writers, young people are empowered to  create an extended, exciting piece of writing.

We’re running in-person and online workshops during term on Monday – Thursday for both primary school and high school students.

Think of the small moments in time that are significant in our lives, or that contribute to the story of who we are. How do you capture that moment on camera? In words? Who takes the picture? What happens outside the frame? What stories do they tell? In this workshop series, students will consider the relationship between photography and poetry and create short poems, vignettes and flash fiction pieces inspired by the work of a range of local and international writers, and visual and photographic artists, as well their own photographs.

This program is not for the faint-hearted! Over 8-weeks, students will shape, write, and produce their very own gothic poetry-themed murder mystery night that asks the question: “Who Killed Edgar Allan Poe?”. Their creepy plot lines and spooky poetry clues will be launched at an event at the Sydney Fringe Festival where students will be able to showcase how they used narrative structure, voice, poetry techniques, and interactive puzzles to create a fun literary experience for the public.

Note: For this program there is also a special Sydney Fringe Festival public launch on Friday 19 September at SF Parramatta from 5pm-7pm!

The best thing about this program was honing my writing and interacting with people that love literature as much as I do.
