Story Factory

Our Year of the Novella and Year of Poetry programs are open to high school students who love to write and want to stretch themselves creatively. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with like-minded young writers, and meet and learn from professional editors and published authors.

Here’s how it works:

1. Decide whether you would like to focus on prose or poetry;
2. Attend weekly after-school writing sessions (4.30pm to 6.00pm) at our beautiful workshop space in Parramatta;
3. Work with our amazing Storytellers. During the sessions, they will guide you through the whole process, from brainstorming story and structure, through to publication.

At the end of these year-long programs, you’ll be the author of a professionally published novella or collection of poetry. We’ll also host an official book launch to celebrate your achievements — and you’ll receive an advance from sales!

We know that writing is a commitment, and that while it is deeply satisfying it can also be challenging on a number of levels! There is nothing to fear though — we’re here to help you build your skills and support you every step of the way.

We require only that you show up.

Year of the Novella is every Wednesday during school terms, from 4.30pm to 6.00pm.

Year of Poetry is every Thursday during school terms, from 4.30pm to 6.00pm.
