Harmony
By Alyssa, Year 6
This is Harmony Day, we all have a role to play,
to play mine, I promise to definitely show,
compassion towards others, every single day,
like the sun’s warm glow.
I must make sure I absolutely embrace,
and accept others’ races, with a happy face.
I must appreciate different ideas and religions too,
loving them all, old and new.
I promise to show compassion, like the sun’s embrace,
warming every corner of the earth’s space.
Ensuring every race, idea, and religion is accepted,
and appreciated, just as expected.
This poem by Alyssa was written in a Harmony Week workshop run by Story Factory Digital. In this workshop, students explored Harmony Week in a meaningful and creative way. They explored the origins of Harmony Day, and learnt what it meant to genuinely contribute to harmony using creative, persuasive and emotive language.
