Amusement Park Stories
Stage 2
Term Long (8 weeks)
This workshop gives students the opportunity to imagine and write a narrative exploring the dream first job…working at an Amusement Park! Each week students write a new chapter based on writing prompts which focus on different narrative or literacy skills. Activities will encourage students to explore elements such as cause and effect, descriptive language, using sensory language, and shifting perspective.

Throughout this workshop series, students created pieces of writing that subvert elements of social media posts (yes, you 🫵🏼@instagram) where people present their ‘best lives’ to the world. Considering experiences that are surprisingly beautiful, enriching or reward sustained attention, they investigated the nature of truth in writing.
Extracts from this selection of writing were used as the audio for the Sunset in my Heart video.
