Powerhouse Castle Hill
In December 2025, we facilitated four workshops with 120 primary school students at Powerhouse Castle Hill. This was a part of the wider Powerhouse Young Writers' Challenge that the museum facilitated with guest children's author Andy Griffiths.
We also ran a 'Bowerbird Treasure Hunt' for students to imagine objects from the museum's collection in wholly new contexts. They used this imagery as a launch pad to create their own winged typewriter character persona using poetic techniques (and stick on googly eyes!) in an activity that got young people sharing where their ideas might take them.
We also facilitated professional learning days for primary teachers, upskilled education staff at the museum, and wrote a curriculum for the Powerhouse to deliver programs in Term 4. Our program was themed around 'Paper Wings' and how writing can give flight to young people's ideas.
