Like the essence of life
Like the elixir of taste
Like the King of the Drinks
Like the Queen of Beverages
Like the bubbly depths of the ocean
Like the fizzy volcanoes found on the edge of the Earth
Like a one way trip to diabetes
Like a fake paradise, addictive
but dangerous under the cover?

Like an invisible window waiting to be seen.

This poem was written by one of our 2025 Year of Poetry students, as part of our special “Poetry Pairings” stall at the University of Sydney Community Festival on November 8. Visitors to the stall tasted non-alcoholic drinks of various descriptions, and paired them with excerpts from these delicious poems!
