Art and the Institution - Female Factory

The Parramatta Female Factory is an important site in the colourful history of colonial New South Wales. Since 1821 it’s been an orphanage, prison, asylum, medical facility and school. In Art and the Institution, Story Factory has partnered with the Parramatta Female Factory to allow Year 9 & 10 students from Western Sydney to explore both the pre-colonial history of the area as well as more recent history. Students have created both artworks and creative writing that investigates our shared history on Darug land.

The results will be published in a project anthology, and artwork displayed as part of an exhibition at the Parramatta Female Factory in Sept 2021.
