A Quiet Curve of a Scarcely Used Track

By Edward, Year 9

after Amy Lowell’s “Spring Day-Bath”

The day is bright but cool on the eyes. The smell of the ocean is in the air. I stare along the track, listening for that soft squeal of a train rounding the bend.

The larimar sky comforts me, a blue ceiling peppered with fluffy white clouds and accented with a golden light from a golden ball. The ocean. The place that everyone knows but never understands. A place so dangerous that only the bravest dare to traverse it, but so comforting that everyone deserves to be around it.

My camera beeps, bringing me back to reality. My train is there. It’s time to take that photo, the train at that perfect moment, shrouded in nature and protected by that larimar sky.
