Protest Poetry: Untitled

By Parsa K

I’m just an ordinary man
from a different land.
Happiness, joy and love is
what I see around me
but because one person’s
personality we are all perceived
as this angry, violent society
with a lot of disunity.

I’m just a gentleman
but they don’t see that
they run, they hide, try
to stay away. The conversation
starts with a hey but
ends in a drive away.
A display of fear born
from ignorance.

I’m just an ordinary man;
Like you I have love, joy and dreams.
I need you to see that you and
me are both human so let’s come
together as one, brothers and sisters
in arms. Working and playing and
praying peacefully
in one united community.
