Secret Hideaway
By Katy
As Azrael floated in the darkness that surrounded him, he imagined the perfect place to build his secret hideaway.
With a mischievous grin, he began to summon something so dark and cruel the sun couldn’t reverse it. Stars glinted bright for a moment, as if trying to shine once more before they died, ruined like a broken promise.
Azrael worked tirelessly, using the darkness within him to break the only light left in the world.
The hideaway started to take shape, featuring dark shadows of death and dimming dust left from fallen stars.
In the corner of the hideaway, there was a cube-shaped material, made of something much darker than glass, something not even pure starlight could pierce through. It was where he kept a secret. The secret on how to kill the worst villain in all of history.
The hideaway felt like death had stroked its walls, with a touch of a feeling like a forgotten promise had died there.
As Azrael put the finishing touches on his hideaway, he couldn’t help but feel that no matter what he did, that hole inside of him that he had instead of a heart would hurt more and more until he broke, broke like his trust did, that day when his heart broke too.
