Meet Sophie

Sophie is our first Pen Pal student of the month! She lives in Taree, about a four hour drive north of Sydney and has just signed up to come to Sydney once or twice a term this year to participate in our Novella program, which we think is spectacular commitment!

Her writing is a wonderful exploration of the fantasy genre, and in her first contact with us we were told she had “started 89 novels, but normally gets stuck around page 130”.

Sophie won’t talk out loud until she’s sure she knows how you’ll react, preferring covert intelligence gathering over a charm offensive. Once she trusts you then you’ll find her mind is always feeling around the shape of an idea and casting together images that create space for her secret voice to speak.

Books are her life’s passion and she has taken lessons from each she reads to feed into her own story telling.
