Someone You Were

Someone you were in the past

My love for makeup.

Something that you value in the present

I remember when I was 6 years old, I would always sit on our dilapidated couch, ridden with large holes and hidden candy wrappers, while the sun was still rising.

This was in suburban Philippines, where, almost always, there was this periodic rumble of tricycles and rooster calls in the morning. There would be this persistent, yet soft scent of wet grass.

Something that will never change

I now realise the value of sleep. Nowadays, I just sleep just 4-5 hours and in these brief times, of sweet relaxation. I would sometimes mumble in my sleep, get up and ask random things, half-asleep, as witnessed by my mother.

Sleep deprivation is actually real and this is something I just found out this year. I would stay up late just to finish my homework, sleep for 4-5 hours, then I would question the day after why I was feeling so tired.

Back then, I would sleep 7-9 hours, never bothering to remember.
