A tryst with time

By Indrani Ganguly, Out Of School

I gaze into the fathomless tunnel which will lead me to my beloved. There will be no coming back. But I have planned it so we stay together for eternity. I plunge into the darkness, my arms outstretched like featherless wings. The scent of roses envelopes me as I spy my beloved in the garden I built. ‘Take one my love,’ I cry holding out the bitter pills I’ve brought. ‘We’ll be eternally together.’ My beloved pushes my hand away. ‘I cannot be your love anymore,’ she wails. ‘You are now too old for me.’
